One of Yuma's favorite parks is on the banks of the Colorado River - enter off 1st Street at 12th or 22nd http://Avenue.While you’re at West Wetlands Park (282 N. 12th Ave.), you can check out owls and hummingbirds, flip out on Frisbee golf, watch miniature sailboats, or go fishing – this riverfront park has so much going on, it has its own Facebook and Wikipedia pages. Pretty good for the site of the former town dump. Beachgoers in the know have discovered Centennial Beach in the City’s West Wetlands Park, adjacent to the boat ramp. Only a year old, it may lack ocean waves, but features tons of sand for picnics and castles and a cool river in which to dip your toes. West Wetland’s landmark Stewart Vincent Wolfe Memorial Playground -- better known as “the castle park” – was destroyed in an arson fire, but it's been rebuilt “bigger, better and safer,” with added fun features. Now watch it grow.
